OC Holiday Happenings: Dec. 7 – 13

On the second week of December, Orange County holiday celebrations will be in full swing. From Seal Beach to San Juan Capistrano, there will be merriment near you.

Friday, December 7
34th Annual Holiday Parade – Seal Beach

Main Street

Come cheer local groups as they welcome the holidays into this seaside community, like the Seal Beach Kazoo Marching Society Band.  Finding parking can be a challenge so I suggest arriving early and enjoying dinner before the parade.

Saturday, December 8
Annual Boat Parade of Lights – Dana Point

Dana Point Harbor 34555 Golden Lantern

Bundle up and watch the parade of boats covered in twinkling lights pass by. You can get a great view from just about anywhere in the harbor, or you can watch from the comfort of one of many harbor view restaurants. The parade runs on Friday and Saturday nights, December 7-8 and 14-15.

Sunday, December 9
Holiday Lights Contest – Orange

Old Towne Orange Neighborhood

Every year, residents of this historic neighborhood decorate their homes for the holidays. Awards are given to the Best Block, Most Old Fashioned, and the Best Use of Lights. Even If you don’t live in Orange, you can still stroll down the streets and enjoy this unique taste of hometown holiday cheer.

Monday, December 10
Cha Cha’s Latin Kitchen Toy Drive – Brea

Any day until December 14th

Give and receive at the same time! Cha Cha’s will be hosting a Christmas dinner for local families in need. They will provide dinner and a visit from Santa, but they need help collecting presents. You will receive at complimentary brunch certificate with a donation of a new, unwrapped toy or a cash donation of $10 or more.

Tuesday, December 11
Roger’s Gardens Christmas Celebration – Newport Beach

Open Daily 9:00am – 8:00pm

2301 San Joaquin Hills Road

To label Roger’s Gardens as just another nursery would be a disservice. This destination garden shop is check full of unique gifts, ornaments and, of course, beautiful seasonal plants. I defy anyone to spend an hour strolling through the pine-scented gardens twinkling with light and not be filled with the holiday spirit.

Wednesday, December 12
“It’s A Wonderful Life: The Musical” – San Juan Capistrano

31776 El Camino Real

See George Bailey learn the true meaning of Christmas and Clarence the Angel get his wings. The holiday classic movie is set to music and performed at the Camino Real Playhouse. The show runs through Saturday, December 12th.

Thursday, December 13
45th Annual Holiday Sing – Cypress

Cypress Civic Center

Are you tired of simply listening to others perform holiday music? Now’s your chance to join in on the fun as local groups lead in a community sing-along.
