Making the Cut: Become a Smarter Business Owner

Ever think of becoming a more intelligent business owner? Many of you probably have, but aren’t quite sure how to go about it. Intelligence is more than just your IQ. It is something that can constantly grow when you put yourself in the right situations to learn more effectively. Growing your brain is growing your business.

The situations you place yourself in can influence how you think. So, what can you do to develop that intelligence potential?

Believe that you can expand your knowledge: There are two definitive mindsets that can affect the way you perceive your abilities. One is the fixed mindset, where your level of intelligence is stagnant and unchanging. The other is the growth mindset, where one can develop through learning in different situations. Choosing to believe that you can grow and improve with time helps you in challenging situations.

Become an expert: Research, as well as experience, helps you develop the skills that can make you a qualified expert in the field that interests you most. Expertise lends itself to thinking differently and creatively in scenarios that would be hard for a rookie to navigate. It does take time, but it is well worth the extra effort. At Cristophe Salon Newport Beach, we often have industry experts come into the salon to teach our team about the latest hair trends to keep our salon a top-notch name in the industry.

Pay attention: In this multi-tasking crazed world, learn to focus your brain on one thing at a time. Tackling two or more tasks at once might seem like a good idea, but your brain can’t give its full attention to each task. This makes it more likely that you will make a mistake and not complete the activity to the best of your ability. Working on one task at a time allows you to absorb the situation better and therefore learn more.

Think positively: When you are happy, your ability to think creatively and for the larger picture greatly improves. If you feel stressed or angry, your brain uses up energy and space that is necessary to solve the problem. Next time you feel anxious or upset take a few deep breaths and calm down. It might just allow you to handle the situation in a more positive and smarter way.

Take care of yourself: The things that health experts have been telling us for years are really true and can help give you more mental power to accomplish great things at your business. Eat a balanced diet, get 7-8 hours of sleep per night and exercise. Your brain will thank you!

Relate to others: Feeling like you belong can reduce stress levels and expand your natural abilities & intelligence. Relationships can also improve your transitive memory. This kind of memory allows you to remember more information among a group of people, for example- your team, than you would be able to on your own.

What are some ways you maximize your brain power?
